(WAVY) – A Cub Scout leader in Newport News has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a boy participating in the Cub Scouts.Clienton Leroy Bryant, 49, of the 400 block of Blair Avenue in Newport News, was charged with two counts each of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship, according to Newport News police.Police said on Dec. 20, Child Protective Services contacted the police department regarding a reported case of child sexual abuse.Detectives learned that at some point between January 2008 and March 2009, the now 11-year-old boy who currently resides in Norfolk had been inappropriately touched by the suspect.The offenses reportedly occurred at Ivy Baptist Church on Maple Avenue where the child was participating in Cub Scout activities.
